She was lucky to have Bramblepool as a mentor- she was kind and caring and actually listened to Swanpaw's ideas. When Swanpaw had asked Bramblepool if she could leave the camp to collect herbs, she gave her a strict warning to be back at camp before sunhigh, though, but dawn had just ended- there was still a lot of time to spare. Bramblepool also told her to collect comfrey, because they were running out of it in their stocks. Swanpaw carefully plucked up two comfrey stalks in her mouth. As she worked, Swanpaw thought of how little friends she had in her Clan. The only real friend that she had was Sparrowpaw, but she usually spent more time with Mosspaw than with her, because she was the medicine cat apprentice and she was almost always treating an injured Clanmate. Swanpaw didn't have any brothers or sisters- just her mother, Violetstorm. Her father, Whiteheart, died from a battle when she was just a kit. Sometimes, she wished that she had more family to keep her company, but Swanpaw's personality is naturally quiet and shy, so the path of medicine cat was just right for her."Moonstar!" Sparrowpaw yowled as soon as she scented MarshClan. "I have something very important to tell you," she continued, regretting the fact that she had inturrupted their meeting. "Wait your turn, apprentice," Darkfur growled menacingly at Sparrowpaw. She'd never seen Darkfur so rude in front of Moonstar. "I'm sorry to interrupt your meeting, but-" "That's alright, Sparrowpaw," Moonstar interjected gently, a friendly gleam in her blue eyes. "What was it that you wanted to tell me?" Taking a deep breath, Sparrowpaw meowed, "I scented MarshClan scent on the breeze, and it seemed like it was very close to our camp." She hoped that they would believe her. "I'm not surprised," meowed Flameheart in a gruff voice. "We've found MarshClan scent on our territory for a half-moon, but never saw them." Moonstar paused, as if considering her response. Her bright blue eyes flickered to Flameheart and back. Finally, in an authorative voice, she mewed, "I'll send out a patrol right away. Darkfur, you can lead- and choose two more cats. Sparrowpaw, you can come on the patrol since you were the one who reported this to me, Go and find your mentor to bring on the patrol with you. Well done," she finished, with a gleam of amusement in her eyes as she gazed at Sparrowpaw's smiling face."Thank you, Moonstar!" Sparrowpaw exclaimed happily before bounding away to find her mentor, Sandpool.Just as Swanpaw returned back to the camp with a mouthful of herbs, she heard Moonstar call a Clan meeting."Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join beneath the Highrock for a Clan meeting!" Moonstar yowled. What does Moonstar want now? Swawnpaw thought irritably as she made her way to the medicine cat's den to drop off her herbs. "You're back early," Bramblepool commented with a gleam of happiness in her beautiful amber eyes. "Good job collecting, Swanpaw!" she exclaimed when she saw how many stalks of healthy comfrey Swanpaw had collected. "Why don't you go over to the Highrock and report back to me what Moonstar's announcement is," Bramblepool added as an afterthought."Yes, Bramblepool," Swanpaw meowed before heading over to the Highrock. As soon as Swanpaw sat down beside Mosspaw at the Highrock, she demanded: "Where's Sparrowpaw?""Out on patrol," Mosspaw whispered in reply, before adding, "Shhh! I don't want to anger my mother."Moonstar the Clan leader is Mosspaw's mother. Even though her father, Greenclaw had died from a nasty bout of greencough, Mosspaw was still very confident and was very popular among all of the apprentices.Suddenly remembering the task that Bramblepool had assigned for her, Swanpaw tuned into the Clan meeting."-So, even though MarshClan might not attack us, we should send out more patrols to patrol our boundaries. Be wary of MarshClan, for they have dark hearts and fierce claws with cunning minds," Moonstar announced. Darkfur spoke up: "I will see to the patrols," he meowed from his position at the base of the Highrock."If you see any MarshClan warriors, or spot anything unusual on our territory that has MarshClan scent, report back to me," the Clan leader reported."We should be ready to battle MarshClan!" one of the warriors, Berrytail, yowled with a fierce intensity gleaming in her amber eyes. With that, Moonstar swiftly ended the Clan meeting, and Swanpaw hurried to the medicine cat's den to share the news with her mentor. Please comment on my story!
